GS 2.18.1

Verse text

śrī-nārada uvāca atha rātryāṁ vyatītāyāṁ māyā-yoṣid-vapur hariḥ rādhā-duḥkha-praśānty-arthaṁ vṛṣabhānor gṛhaṁ yayau

Synonyms

śrī-nāradaḥ uvāca — Śrī Nārada said ; atha — then ; rātryām — at night ; vyatītāyām — passed ; māyā-yoṣid-vapuḥ — trasnformed into a young woman ; hariḥ — Kṛṣṇa ; rādhā — of Rādhā ; duḥkha — to sufferings ; praśānti — pacification ; artham — for the purpose ; vṛṣabhānoḥ — of King Vṛṣabhānu ; gṛham — to the home ; yayau — went.

Translation

Śrī Nārada said: When the night had passed, Lord Kṛṣṇa, again magically transformed into a woman, went to King Vṛṣabhānu's palace to quiet Rādhā's distress.

GS 2.18.2

Verse text

rādhā tam āgataṁ vīkṣya samutthāyāti-harṣitā dattāsanā vidhānena pūjayām āsa maithila

Synonyms

rādhā — Rādhā ; tam — Him ; āgatam — arrived ; vīkṣya — seeing ; samutthāya — rising ; ati-harṣitā — very happy ; datta — offered ; āsanā — a seat ; vidhānena — properly ; pūjayām āsa — worshiped ; maithila — O king of Mithilā.

Translation

When She saw He had come, Rādhā became very happy. Standing up, She offered Him a seat and worshiped Him according to custom.

GS 2.18.3

Verse text

śrī-rādhovāca tvayā vināhaṁ niśi duḥkhitāsaṁ tvayy āgatāyāṁ sakhi labdha-vastu-vat

Translation

duḥkhaṁ tathā bhāmini sat-prasaṅgataḥ śrī-rādhā uvāca—Śrī Rādhā said; tvayā—You; vinā—without; aham—I; niśi—at night; duḥkhitā—unhappy; āsam—was; tvayy—in You; āgatāyām—come; sakhī—O friend; labdha—attained; vastu—vaulable; vat—like; pūrvam—before; hy—indeed; apathyasya—of what is not beneficial; sukham—happiness; yathā—as; tataḥ—so; duḥkham—unhappiness; tathā—so; bhāmini—O beautiful one; sat-prasaṅgataḥ—from the company. Śrī Rādhā said: I was very unhappy at night without You. O friend, now that You have come I am like one who has found a great treasure. O beautiful one, first You made Me happy and then You made Me sad.

GS 2.18.4

Verse text

śrī-nārada uvāca iti śrutvātha tad-vākyaṁ vimanā gopadevatā na kiṣcid ūce śrī-rādhāṁ duḥkhiteva vyavasthitā

Synonyms

śrī-nārada uvāca — Śrī Nārada said ; iti — thus ; śrutvā — hearing ; atha — then ; tad-vākyam — Her words ; vimanā — sad ; gopadevatā — Gopadevatā ; na — not ; kiṣcit — anything ; ūce — sdaid ; śrī-rādhām — to Śrī Rādhā ; duḥkhitā — unhappy ; iva — as if ; vyavasthitā — situated.

Translation

Śrī Nārada said: Hearing these words, Gopadevatā became sad. As if She were morose, She did not say anything to Śrī Rādhā.

GS 2.18.5

Verse text

vijṣāya kheda-sampannāṁ rādhikā gopadevatām sakhībhiḥ samvicāryātha jagāda sneha-tat-parā

Synonyms

vijṣāya — understanding ; kheda-sampannām — unhappy ; rādhikā — Rādhā ; gopadevatām — Gopadevatā ; sakhībhiḥ — by the friends ; samvicārya — considered ; atha — then ; jagāda — spoke ; sneha-tat-parā — full of affection.

Translation

Understanding that Gopadevatā had become unhappy, Rādhā and Her friends considered the situation. Full of affection, Rādhā spoke.

GS 2.18.6

Verse text

śrī-rādhovāca vimanās tvaṁ kathaṁ bhadre vada māṁ gopadevate mātrā bhārtrā nanāndrā vā śvaśrā krodhena bhartsitā

Synonyms

śrī-rādhā uvāca — Śrī Rādhā said ; vimanāḥ — unhappy ; tvam — You ; katham — why? ; bhadre — O beautiful one ; vada — tell ; mām — Me ; gopadevate — O Gopadevatā ; mātrā — by Your mother ; bhārtrā — brother ; nanāndrā — sister-in-law ; vā — or ; śvaśrā — sister ; krodhena — angrily ; bhartsitā — rebuked.

Translation

Śrī Rādhā said: Beautiful one, why are You unhappy? O Gopadevatā, please tell Me. Did Your mother, brother, sister, or sister-in-law speak angry words to You?

GS 2.18.7

Verse text

sapatnī-kṛta-doṣeṇa sva-bhartur virahena vā anyatra lagna-cittena vimanāḥ kiṁ manohare

Synonyms

sapatnī — by a co-wife ; kṛta — done ; doṣeṇa — by a fault ; sva-bhartuḥ — of Your own brother ; virahena — by separation ; vā — or ; anyatra — somewhere else ; lagna — placed ; cittena — heart ; vimanāḥ — unhappy ; kim — why? ; manohare — O beautiful one.

Translation

Did a co-wife fault You? Are You separated from Your brother? Does something else trouble Your heart? O beautiful one, why are You unhappy?

GS 2.18.8

Verse text

mārga-khedena vā kaccid vihvalābhūd rujāthavā śīghraṁ vada mahā-bhāge svasya duḥkhasya kāraṇam

Synonyms

mārga — on the path ; khedena — by trouble ; va — or ; kaccit — something ; vihvalā — agitated ; abhūt — —became ; rujā — with sickness ; athavā — or ; śīghram — for a long time ; vada — tell ; mahā-bhāge — O beautiful one ; svasya — own ; duḥkhasya — suffering ; kāraṇam — the cause.

Translation

Did some trouble happen on the way here? Do You have a sickness? O beautiful one, please tell me at length why You are unhappy.

GS 2.18.9

Verse text

kṛṣṇa-bhaktam ṛte vipraṁ yena kenāpi kutsitam kathitaṁ te 'tha rambhoru tac-cikitsāṁ karomy aham

Synonyms

kṛṣṇa — of Lord Kṛṣṇa ; bhaktam — a devotee ; ṛte — without ; vipram — a brāhmaṇa ; yena kenāpi — by someone ; kutsitam — treated with contempt ; kathitam — spoken ; te — by You ; atha — then ; rambhoru — O girl whose thighs are like banana trees ; tac-cikitsām — the cure for that ; karomy — do ; aham — I will.

Translation

Did some brāhmaṇa who was not a devotee of Kṛṣṇa speak ill to You? O girl whose thighs are like banana trees, describe it, and I will cure Your unhappiness.

GS 2.18.10

Verse text

gajāśvādīni ratnāni vastrāṇi ca dhanāni ca mandirāṇi vicitrāṇi gṛhāṇa tvaṁ yadīcchasi

Synonyms

gaja — elephants ; aśva — horses ; ādīni — beginning with ; ratnāni — jewels ; vastrāṇi — garments ; ca — and ; dhanāni — wealth ; ca — and ; mandirāṇi — palaces ; vicitrāṇi — wonderful ; gṛhāṇa — take ; tvam — You ; yadi — if ; icchasi — You wish.

Translation

If You wish, please take many elephants, horses, jewels, costly garments, coins, and wonderful palaces.

GS 2.18.11

Verse text

dhanaṁ dattvā tanuṁ rakṣet tanuṁ dattvā trapaṁ vyadhāt dhanaṁ tanuṁ trapaṁ dadyān mitra-kāryārtham eva hi dhanaṁ dattvā ca satataṁ rakṣet prāṇān nirantaram

Synonyms

dhanam — wealth ; dattvā — having given ; tanum — body ; rakṣet — may protect ; tanum — body ; dattvā — having given ; trapam — modesty ; vyadhāt — may give ; dhanam — wealth ; tanum — body ; trapam — modesty ; dadyān — may guve ; mitra-kāryārtham — for the benefit of a friend ; eva — indeed ; hi — indeed ; dhanam — welath ; dattvā — having given ; ca — and ; satatam — always ; rakṣet — may protect ; prāṇān — life ; nirantaram — always.

Translation

By giving wealth one preserves another's body. By preserving the body one gives modesty. For the welfare of a friend, one should give Her wealth and thus preserve Her body and Her modesty. By always giving wealth one always preserves the lives of Her friends.

GS 2.18.12

Verse text

yo mitratāṁ niṣkapaṭaṁ karoti niṣkāraṇaṁ dhanyatamaḥ sa eva vidhāya maitrīṁ kapaṭaṁ vidadhyāt taṁ lampaṭaṁ hetu-paṭaṁ naṭaṁ dhik

Synonyms

yaḥ — one who ; mitratām — friendship ; niṣkapaṭam — sincere ; karoti — does ; niṣkāraṇam — unmotivated ; dhanyatamaḥ — the most fortunate ; sa — sh ; eva — indeed ; vidhāya — placing ; maitrīm — friendship ; kapaṭam — false ; vidadhyāt — places ; tam — that ; lampaṭam — cheater ; hetu-paṭam — false reason ; naṭam — and actor ; dhik — fie.

Translation

One who is a sincere, unselfish friend is glorious. One who is not sincere in her friendship is a cheater, or an actor. Fie on her!

GS 2.18.13

Verse text

tasyāḥ prema-vacaḥ śrutvā bhagavān gopadevatā prahasann āha rājendra śrī-rādhāṁ kīrti-nandinīm

Synonyms

tasyāḥ — of Her ; prema-vacaḥ — words of love ; śrutvā — hearing ; bhagavān — the Lord ; gopadevatā — Gopadevatā ; prahasann — smiling ; āha — said ; rājendra — O king ; śrī-rādhām — to Śrī Rādhā ; kīrti-nandinīm — the daughter of Kīrti.

Translation

O king, when He heard Her words of love, Lord Gopadevatā smiled and spoke to Kīrtī's daughter Rādhā.

GS 2.18.14

Verse text

śrī-gopadevatovāca rādhe vrajan sānu-gires taṭīṣu saṅkoca-vīthīṣu manoharāsu yāntīṁ svato māṁ dadhi-vikrayārthaṁ rurodha mārge nava-nanda-putraḥ

Synonyms

śrī-gopadevatā uvāca — Śrī Gopadevatā said ; rādhe — O Rādhā ; vrājan — going ; sānu-gireḥ — of the mountain ; taṭīṣu — on the sides ; saṅkoca — narrow ; vīthīṣu — on the path ; manoharāsu — beautiful ; yāntīm — going ; svataḥ — personally ; mām — to Me ; dadhi — yogurt ; vikraya — selling ; artham — for the purpose ; rurodha — stopped ; mārge — om the path ; nava-nanda-putraḥ — Nanda's son.

Translation

Śrī Gopadevatā said: As He was walking on the beautiful narrow pathways by the hillside, and I was also walking there to sell some yogurt, Nanda's son, Kṛṣṇa, stopped Me.

GS 2.18.15

Verse text

vaṁśī-dharo vetra-karaḥ kare māṁ tvaraṁ gṛhītvā prahasan vilajjaḥ mahyaṁ karādāna-dhanāya dānaṁ dehīti jalpan vipine rasajṣaḥ

Synonyms

vaṁśī — a flute ; dharaḥ — holding ; vetra — a stick ; karaḥ — in His hand ; kare — in the hand ; mām — Me ; tvaram — quickly ; gṛhītvā — taking ; prahasan — laughing ; vilajjaḥ — shameless ; mahyam — to Me ; karādāna-dhanāya — to pay atoll ; dānam — payment ; dehi — give ; iti — thus ; jalpan — speaking ; vipine — in the forest ; rasajṣaḥ — expert at tasting nectar.

Translation

Carrying a flute and holding a stick in His hand, the shameless fellow grabbed My hand, laughed, and said: "Now You must pay a tax to Me!" Talking in this way, He enjoyed in the forest.

GS 2.18.16

Verse text

tubhyaṁ na dasyāmi kadāpi dānaṁ svayambhuve gorasa-lampaṭāya evaṁ mayokte vacane 'tha bhāṇḍaṁ nītvā viśīrṇī-kṛtavān sa dadhnaḥ

Synonyms

na — not ; dasyāmi — I will give ; kadāpi — ever ; dānam — money ; svayambhuve — independent ; gorasa — for milk products ; lampaṭāya — greedy ; evam — thus ; mayā — by Me ; ukte — spoken ; vacane — words ; atha — then ; bhāṇḍam — the pot ; nītvā — taking ; viśīrṇī-kṛtavān — broke ; saḥ — He ; dadhnaḥ — of yogurt.

Translation

When I said, "I will never pay anything to You, a rake greedy after yogurt", He took the yogurt-pot and broke it.

GS 2.18.17

Verse text

bhāṇḍaṁ sa bhittvā dadhi kiṁ ca pītvā nītvottarīyaṁ mama ced urīyam nandīśvarādrer vidiśaṁ jagāma tenāham ārād vimanāḥ sma jātā

Synonyms

sa — He ; bhittvā — breaking ; dadhi — yogurt ; kiṁ ca — furthermore ; pītvā — drinking ; nītvā — taking ; uttarīyam — bodice ; mama — My ; cet — if ; urīyam — on the breasts ; nandīśvarādreḥ — of Nandīśvara Hill ; vidiśam — in the direction ; jagāma — went ; tena — by Him ; aham — I ; ārāt — from afar ; vimanāḥ — depressed ; sma — indeed ; jātā — become.

Translation

After breaking the pot, He drank the yogurt, grabbed My bodice, and then ran off toward Nandīśvara Hill. That is why I am unhappy.

GS 2.18.18

Verse text

jātyā sa gopaḥ kila kṛṣṇa-varṇo 'dhunī na vīro na hi śīla-rūpaḥ yasmiṁs tvayā prema kṛtaṁ su-śīle tyajāśu nirmohanam adya kṛṣṇam

Synonyms

jātyā — by birth ; sa — He ; gopaḥ — a gopa ; kila — indeed ; kṛṣṇa-varṇaḥ — a śūdra ; adhunī — now ; na — not ; vīraḥ — hero ; na — not ; hi — indeed ; śīla-rūpaḥ — handsome ; yasmin — in which ; tvayā — by You ; prema — love ; kṛtam — done ; su-śīle — O saintly girl ; tyaja — abandon ; āśu — at once ; nirmohanam — free from illusion ; adya — today ; kṛṣṇam — Kṛṣṇa.

Translation

Although by birth He is a gopa, today He has become a low-class śūdra. He is not a hero, and He does not have good character. O saintly girl, today You should be free of illusion. Give up Your love for this Kṛṣṇa.

GS 2.18.19

Verse text

itthaṁ sa-vairaṁ paruṣaṁ vacas tac chrutvā ca rādhā vṛṣabhānu-nandinī su-vismitā vākya-pade sarasvatī- padaṁ smayantī nijagāda tāṁ prati

Synonyms

ittham — thus ; sa-vairam — with hatred ; paruṣam — harsh ; vacaḥ — words ; tac — that ; chrutvā — hearing ; ca — and ; rādhā — Rādhā ; vṛṣabhānu — of King Vṛṣabhānu ; nandinī — the daughter ; vākya-pade — in the words ; sarasvatī — of eloquence ; padam — the words ; smayantī — smiling ; nijagāda — spoke ; tām — Her ; prati — to.

Translation

Surprised to hear these harsh and hateful words, King Vṛṣabhānu's daughter Rādhā smiled and eloquently spoke to Her.

GS 2.18.20

śrī-rādhovāca yat-prāptaye vidhi-hara-pramukhās tapanti vahnau tapaḥ paramayā nija-yoga-rītyā dattaḥ śukaḥ kapila āsurir aṅgirā yat- pādāravinda-makaranda-rajaḥ spṛśanti

Translation

taṁ kṛṣṇam ādi-puruṣaṁ paripūrṇa-devaṁ līlāvatāram ajam arti-haraṁ janānām bhū-bhūri-hāra-bharaṇāya satāṁ śubhāya jātaṁ vinindasi kathaṁ sakhi durvinīte śrī-rādhā uvāca—Śrī Rādhā said; yat-prāptaye—to attain whom; vidhi-hara-pramukhāḥ—headed by Brahmā and Śiva; tapanti—perform austerities; vahnau—in the fire; tapaḥ—burning; paramayā—with great; nija-yoga-rītyā—yoga activities; dattaḥ—Dattātreya; śukaḥ—Śukadeva; kapila—Kapila; āsuriḥ—Asuri; aṅgirā—and Aṅgirā; yat—of whom; pādāravinda—of the lotus feet; makaranda-rajaḥ—the pollen; spṛśanti—touch; tam—Him; kṛṣṇam—Kṛṣṇa; ādi-puruṣam—the original Supreme Personality of Godhead; paripūrṇa-devam—the perfect Lord; līlāvatāram—who has descended to enjoy transcendental pastimes; ajam—unborn; arti—of miseries; haram—the remover; janānām—of the people; bhū—of the earth; bhūri—the great; bhāra—burden; haraṇāya——to remove; satām—of the devotees; śubhāya—for the welfare; jātam—born; vinindasi—You criticise; katham—why?; sakhi—O friend; durvinīte—uncivilized and foolish. Śrī Rādhā said: Foolish friend, why do You criticize Lord Kṛṣṇa, the original and perfect Supreme Personality of Godhead who, to enjoy pastimes, remove the earth's burden, and bring auspiciousness to the devotees, has descended to the earth, to attain whom Brahmā Śiva and all the demigods perform great yoga austerities, and the honey pollen of whose lotus feet Dattātreya, Śukadeva, Kapila, Asuri, and Aṅgirā touch?

GS 2.18.21

gāḥ pālayanti satataṁ rajaso gavāṁ ca gaṅgāṁ spṛśanti na japanti gavāṁ su-nāmnām prekṣanty ahar-niśam alaṁ su-mukhaṁ gavāṁ ca jātiḥ parā na viditā bhuvi gopa-jāteḥ

gāḥ — the cows ; pālayanti — protect ; satatam — always ; rajasaḥ — the dust ; gavām — of the cows ; ca — and ; gaṅgām — the Gaṅgā ; spṛśanti — touch ; na — not ; japanti — chant ; gavām — of the cows ; su-nāmnām — the names ; prekṣanty — see ; ahar-niśam — day and night ; alam — greatly ; su-mukham — handsome face ; gavām — of the cows ; ca — and ; jātiḥ — birth ; parā — greater ; na — not ; viditā — known ; bhuvi — on the earth ; gopa-jāteḥ — than birth as a gopa.

Translation

The gopas protect the cows. Without touching water, they are covered by cows' dust. The chant the cows' names. Day and night they see the cows' beautiful faces. On this earth no birth better than a gopas' birth.

GS 2.18.23

Verse text

tat-kṛṣṇa-varṇa-vilasat-su-kalāṁ samīkṣya tasmin vilagna-manasā su-sukhaṁ vihāya unmatta-vad vrajati dhāvanti nīlakaṇṭho bibhrat kaparda-viṣa-bhasma-kapāla-sarpān

Synonyms

tat — of Him ; kṛṣṇa — the dark ; varṇa — color ; vilasat — glistening ; su-kalam — beautiful ; samīkṣya — seeing ; tasmin — in that ; vilagna — attached ; manasā — minds ; su-sukham — happy ; vihāya — giving up ; unmatta-vat — like a madman ; vrajati — go ; dhāvanti — run ; nīlakaṇṭhaḥ — Śiva ; bibhrat — holding ; kaparda — matted hair ; viṣa — poison ; bhasma — ashes ; kapāla — skulls ; sarpān — and snakes.

Translation

Gazing at Kṛṣṇa's dark handsomeness, Śiva became attached to Him. Giving up all normal happiness, wearing matted hair, drinking poison, covered with ashes, and decorated with snakes and skulls, Śiva now walks and runs about like a madman.

GS 2.18.24

svarloka-siddha-muni-yakṣa-marud-gaṇānāṁ pālāḥ samasta-nara-kinnara-nāga-nāthāḥ yat-pāda-padmam aniśaṁ praṇipatya bhaktyā labdha-śriyaḥ kila baliṁ pradaduḥ sma tasmai

Synonyms

svarloka — of Svarloka ; siddha — the siddhas ; muni — munis ; yakṣa — yaksas ; marud-gaṇānām — and maruts ; pālāḥ — the protector ; samasta — all ; nara — humans ; kinnara — khinnbaras ; nāga — and nagas ; nāthāḥ — the Lord ; yat-pāda-padmam — whose lotus feet ; aniśam — day and night ; praṇipatya — bowing down ; bhaktyā — with devotion ; labdha — attained ; śriyaḥ — glory ; kila — indeed ; balim — offerings ; pradaduḥ — gave ; sma — indeed ; tasmai — to Him.

Translation

He is the protector of the svarlokas, siddhas, munis, yakṣas, and maruts. He is the master of all the humans, kinnaras, and nāgas. Day and night the glorious great souls devotedly bow before His lotus feet and make offerings to Him.

GS 2.18.25

vatsāgha-kāliya-bakārjuna-dhenukānāṁ ācakravāta-śakaṭāsura-pūtanānām eṣāṁ vadhaḥ kim uta tasya yaśo murārer yaḥ koṭiśo 'ṇḍa-nicayodbhava-nāśa-hetuḥ

vatsa — Vatsasura ; agha — Agha ; kāliya — Kaliya ; baka — Baka ; arjuna — the arjuna trees ; dhenukānām — and Djenuka ; ācakravāta — Trnavarta ; śakaṭāsura — Satakatasura ; pūtanānām — and Putana ; eṣām — of them ; vadhaḥ — the death ; kim uta — indeed ; tasya — of Him ; yaśaḥ — glory ; murāreḥ — of Kṛṣṇa ; yaḥ — how great? ; koṭiśaḥ — many millions ; aṇḍa-nicaya — universes ; udbhava — creation ; nāśa — and destruction ; hetuḥ — the cause.

Translation

He killed Vatsāsura, Agha, Kāliya, Baka, the arjuna trees, Dhenuka, Tṛṇāvārta, Sakaṭāsura, and Pūtanā! How great are His glories? He is the creator and destroyer of many millions of universes!

GS 2.18.26

bhaktāt priyo na viditaḥ puruṣottamasya śambhur vidhir na ca ramā na ca rauhiṇeyaḥ bhaktān anuvrajati bhakti-nibaddha-cittas cūḍā-maṇiḥ sakala-loka-janasya kṛṣṇaḥ

Translation

To Him, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, no one is more dear than His devotee. Neither Śiva, Brahmā, Lakṣmī, nor Balarāma is more dear. Lord Kṛṣṇa, the crest-jewel of all persons, His heart now bound with love, becomes the humble follower of His devotees.

GS 2.18.27

gacchan nijaṁ janam anu prapunāti lokān āvedayan hari-jane sva-ruciṁ mahātmā tasmād atīva bhajatāṁ bhagavān mukundo muktiṁ dadāti na kadāpi su-bhakti-yogam

Synonyms

gacchan — going ; nijam — to His own ; janam — people ; anu — following ; prapunāti — pruifies ; lokān — the people ; āvedayan — proclaiming ; hari-jane — for the devotees ; sva-rucim — His own love ; mahātmā — the Lord ; tasmāt — from that ; atīva — greatlly ; bhajatām — of the devotees ; bhagavān — the Lord ; mukundaḥ — Mukunda ; muktim — liberation ; dadāti — gives ; na — not ; kadāpi — ever ; su-bhakti-yogam — pure devotional service.

Translation

Following His devotees here and there, He purifies the worlds. He loudly declares His love for His devotees. To those who worship Him, Lord Kṛṣṇa easily gives liberation, but He does not easily give pure devotional service.

GS 2.18.28

śrī-gopadevatovāca rādhe tvadīya-dhiṣaṇā dhiṣaṇaṁ hasantī vāṇīṁ śrutiṁ prakuśalena viḍambayantī atrāgamiṣyati yadātha hariḥ pareśaḥ satyaṁ dadāti vacanaṁ tava devi manye

Translation

O Rādhā, Your intelligence laughs at Bṛhaspati and Your works cleverly mock the Vedas. When the Supreme Personality of Godhead Himself comes here and confirms Your words, only then will I believe them.

GS 2.18.29

śrī-rādhovāca yathāgamiṣyati yadādya hariḥ pareśaḥ kiṁ kārayāmi bhavatīṁ vada tarhi su-bhru ced āgamo na hi bhaved vana-mālinaḥ svaṁ sarvaṁ dhanaṁ ca bhavanaṁ na dadāmi tubhyam

Translation

Śrī Rādhā said: O girl with the beautiful eyebrows, tell Me, if the Supreme Personality of Godhead personally comes here, what will I do about You? If the Lord who wears a forest garland comes, I will not be able to give My palace and all My wealth to You.

GS 2.18.30

śrī-nārada uvāca atha rādhā samutthāya natvā śrī-nanda-nandanam upaviśyāsane dadhyau dhyāna-stimita-locanā

Translation

Śrī Nārada said: Rādhā stood up, bowed before Kṛṣṇa, and gave Him a seat. Then She closed Her eyes in meditation.

paśyantīnāṁ sakhīnāṁ ca sahasā bhakta-vatsalaḥ rādhāṁ prāha prasannātmā megha-gambhīrayā girā utkaṇṭhitām—filled with longing; sveda-yuktām—perspiring; bāṣpa—tears; kaṇṭhīm—neck; priyām—beloved; hariḥ—Kṛṣṇa; aśru—with tears; pūrṇa—filled; mukhīm—face; vīkṣya—seeing; bibhrat—manifesting; svam—own; pauruṣīm—male; tanum—form; paśyantīnām—looking on; sakhīnām—friends; ca—and; sahasā—at once; bhakta—to the devotees; vatsalaḥ—affectionate; rādhām—to Rādhā; prāha—spoke; prasanna—pleased; ātmā—at heart; megha—clouds; gambhīrayā—deep; girā—with words. Watching His beloved perspiring and full of longings, and watching Her face fill with tears than ran down Her neck, as Her friends looked on, Lord Kṛṣṇa, who is kind to His devotees, became pleased at heart with Her, suddenly manifested His own male form, and spoke to Her in a voice deep as thunder.

Translation

Śrī Kṛṣṇa said: O girl whose thighs are like banana trees, O girl whose face is like the moon, O queen of the beautiful girls of Vraja, O Rādhā, O beloved, O girl with all the virtues of youth, open Your eyes! Look! Called by Your sweet words, I have come!

GS 2.18.34

āgaccha kṛṣṇa iti vākyam ataḥ śrutaṁ me sadyo visṛjya nija-gokula-gopa-vṛndam vaṁśī-vaṭāc ca yamunā-nikaṭāt pradhāvaṁs tvat-prītaye 'tha lalane 'tra samāgato 'smi

Translation

When I heard You say, "O Kṛṣṇa, please come", I at once left the gopas at Vaṁśīvāṭa by the Yamunā's shore and ran here to please You. O beautiful one, I have come.

GS 2.18.35

Verse text

mayy āgate sati gati gatā sakhi-rūpiṇī kā yakṣyāsurī sura-vadhū kila kinnarī vā māyāvatī chalayituṁ bhavatīṁ ca tasmād viśvāsa eva na vidheya uraṅga-patnyām

mayy — when I ; āgate — had come ; sati — O saintly girl ; gati — gone ; gatā — gone ; sakhi-rūpiṇī — in the form of a gopī firend ; kā — who? ; yakṣy — a yaksi ; āsurī — and demoness ; sura-vadhū — a demigoddess ; kila — kindeed ; kinnarī — kinnarī ; vā — or ; māyāvatī — a magician ; chalayitum — tocover ; bhavatīm — You ; ca — and ; tasmāt — therefore ; viśvāsa — belief ; eva — indeed ; na — not ; vidheya — should be done ; uraṅga-patnyām — in a snake-girl.

Translation

O saintly one, I am here. What yakṣī, asurī, demigoddess, or kinnarī could have fooled You with magic as I have? You would not have believed them. Nor would You have believed a snake-goddess either.

GS 2.18.36

śrī-nārada uvāca atha rādhā hariṁ dṛṣṭvā natvā tat-pāda-paṅkajam mudam āpa paraṁ rājan sadyaḥ pūrṇa-manorathā

Synonyms

śrī-nārada uvāca — Śrī Nārada said ; atha — then ; rādhā — Rādhā ; harim — to Kṛṣṇa ; dṛṣṭvā — seeing ; natvā — bowing down ; tat-pāda-paṅkajam — to His lotus feet ; mudam — happiness ; āpa — attained ; param — great ; rājan — O king ; sadyaḥ — at once ; pūrṇa — fulfilled ; manorathā — desire.

Translation

Śrī Nārada said: O king, Rādhā gazed at Kṛṣṇa and bowed before His lotus feet. Her desires fulfilled, She was very happy.

GS 2.18.37

Verse text

evaṁ śrī-kṛṣṇacandrasya caritāny adbhutāni ca yaḥ śṛṇoti naro bhaktyā sa kṛtārtho bhaven naraḥ

Synonyms

evam — thus ; śrī-kṛṣṇacandrasya — of Śrī Kṛṣṇacandra ; caritāny — the pastimes ; adbhutāni — wonderful ; ca — and ; yaḥ — who ; śṛṇoti — hears ; naraḥ — a person ; bhaktyā — with devotion ; sa — he ; kṛtārthaḥ — successful ; bhaven — becomes ; naraḥ — a person.

Translation

A person who with devotion hears these wonderful pastimes of Lord Kṛṣṇacandra attains the supreme goal of life.
