śrī-nārada uvāca idaṁ mayā te kathitaṁ kāliyasyāpi mardanam śrī-kṛṣṇa-caritaṁ puṇyaṁ kiṁ bhūyaḥ śrotum icchasi

Synonyms

śrī-nāradaḥ uvāca Śrī Nārada said ; idam this ; mayā by me ; te to you ; kathitam told ; kāliyasya of Kaliya ; api also ; mardanam the defeat ; śrī-kṛṣṇa-caritam Śrī Kṛṣṇa's pastimes ; puṇyam sacred ; kim what? ; bhūyaḥ more ; śrotum to her ; icchasi you wish.

Translation

Śrī Nārada said: I have recounted to you Śrī Kṛṣṇa's sacred pastime of crushing Kāliya. What more do you wish to hear?

śrī-bahulāśva uvāca śrī-kṛṣṇasya kathāṁ śrutvā bhaktas tṛptiṁ na yāti hi yathāmaraḥ sudhāṁ pitvā yathāliḥ padma-karṇikām

Synonyms

śrī-bahulāśvaḥ uvāca Śrī Bahulāśva said ; śrī-kṛṣṇasya of Śrī Kṛṣṇa ; katham the topics ; śrutvā hearing ; bhaktaḥ the devotee ; tṛptim satiation ; na not ; yāti attains ; hi indeed ; yathā as ; amaraḥ a demigod ; sudhām nectar ; pitvā drinking ; yathā as ; aliḥ a bee ; padma of a lotus ; karṇikām the whorl.

Translation

Śrī Bahulāśva said: As a demigod never tires of drinking nectar and a bee never tires of drinking from the whorl of a lotus, so a devotee never tires of hearing Śrī Kṛṣṇa's pastimes.

Verse text

rāsaṁ kartuṁ harau jāte śiśu-rūpe mahātmāni bhāṇḍire deva-vāg āha śrī-rādhāṁ khinna-mānasām

Synonyms

rāsam the rasa dance ; kartum to perform ; harau when Lord Kṛṣṇa ; jāte was manifested ; śiśu-rūpe in the form of a child ; mahātmani —the Lord ; bhāṇḍire in Bhandiravana ; deva of a demigod ; vāk the voice ; āha said ; śrī-rādhām to Śrī Rādhā ; khinna-mānasām who was unhappy at heart.

Translation

When Lord Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, was a child, and Śrī Rādhā was unhappy at heart because She yearned to enjoy the rāsa dance with Him, in Bhāṇḍiravana forest a divine voice said:

śocaṁ ma kuru kalyāṇi vṛndāraṇye manohare manorathas te bhavitā śrī-kṛṣṇena mahātmanā

Synonyms

śocam lamentation ; ma don't ; kuru do ; kalyāṇi O beautiful one ; vṛndāraṇye in Vṛndāvana forest ; manohare beautiful ; manorathaḥ desire ; te Your ; bhavitā will be ; śrī-kṛṣṇena with Lord Kṛṣṇa ; mahātmanā the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

Translation

O beautiful one, don't lament. In beautiful Vṛndāvana forest Your desire to enjoy with Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, will be fulfilled.

itthaṁ deva-girā prokto manoratha-mahārṇavaḥ kathaṁ babhūva bhagavān vṛndāraṇye manohare

Synonyms

ittham thus ; deva-girā by the divine voice ; proktaḥ addressed ; manoratha of desires ; mahā a great ; arṇavaḥ ocean ; katham how? ; babhūva became ; bhagavān the Supreme Personality of Godhead ; vṛndāraṇye in Vṛndāvana ; manohare beautiful.

Translation

After the divine voice spoke these words how did the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is a great ocean of fulfilled desires, come to beautiful Vṛndāvana forest??

kathaṁ śrī-rādhayā sārdhaṁ rāsa-krīḍāṁ manoharām cakāra vṛndakāraṇye paripūrṇatamaḥ svayam

Translation

In beautiful Vṛndāvana forest how did the Supreme Personality of Godhead enjoy the rāsa-dance pastime with Śrī Rādhā?

śrī-nārada uvāca sādhu pṛṣṭhaṁ tvayā rājan bhagavac-caritaṁ śubham guptaṁ vadāmi devaiś ca līlākhyānaṁ manoharam

Synonyms

śrī-nāradaḥ uvāca Śrī Nārada said ; sādhu well ; pṛṣṭham asked ; tvayā by you ; rājan O king ; bhagavac-caritam the Lord's pastimes ; śubham auspicious ; guptam secret ; vadāmi I tell ; devaiś by the demigods ; ca and ; līlākhyānam the story of pastimes ; manoharam beautiful.

Translation

Śrī Nārada said: O king, you have asked well. I will tell the Lord's beautiful and auspicious pastime, which is hidden even from the demigods.

ekadā mukhya-sakhyau dve viśākhā-lalite śubhe vṛṣabhānor gṛhaṁ prāpya taṁ rādhāṁ jagmatū rahaḥ

Synonyms

ekadā one day ; mukhya-sakhyau the two most important friends ; dve two ; viśākhā-lalite Viśākhā and Lalitā ; śubhe beautioful ; vṛṣabhānoḥ of King Vṛṣabhānu ; gṛham to the home ; prāpya attaining ; tam to Her ; rādhām Rādhā ; jagmatū wnet ; rahaḥ in private.

Translation

One day Her two most intimate friends, beautiful Lalitā and Viśākhā, went to Mahārāja Vṛṣabhānu's palace and approached Rādhā in private.

śrī-sakhyāv ūcatuḥ yaṁ cintayasi rādhe tvaṁ yad-guṇaṁ vadasi svataḥ so 'pi nityaṁ samāyāti vṛṣabhānu-pure 'rbhakaiḥ

Synonyms

śrī-sakhyau ūcatuḥ the two friends said ; yam whom ; cintayasi You meditate ; rādhe O Rādhā ; tvam You ; yad-guṇam whose virtues ; vadasi You say ; svataḥ Himself ; saḥ He ; api aslo ; nityam always ; samāyāti comes ; vṛṣabhānu-pure to the palace of King Vṛṣabhānu ; arbhakaiḥ with many boys.

Translation

The two friends said: He on whom You meditate and whose virtues You praise, with many boys again and again comes to King Vṛṣabhānu's palace.

prekṣaṇīyas tvayā rādhe darśanīyo 'ti-sundaraḥ paścimāyāṁ niśīthinyāṁ go-cāraṇa-vinirgataḥ

Synonyms

prekṣaṇīyaḥ should be seen ; tvayā by You ; rādhe O Rādhā ; darśanīyaḥ should be seen ; ati-sundaraḥ very handsome ; paścimāyām in the west ; niśīthinyām in the evening ; go-cāraṇa from herding the cows ; vinirgataḥ returning.

Translation

O Rādhā, in the evening He comes from the west, returning with the cows. You should see Him. He is very handsome.

śrī-rādhovāca likhitvā tasya citraṁ hi darśayāśu manoharam tarhi tat-prekṣaṇaṁ paścāt kariṣyāmi na saṁśayaḥ

śrī-rādhā uvāca Śrī Rādhā said ; likhitvā having drawn ; tasya His ; citram picture ; hi indeed ; darśaya show ; āśu at once ; manoharam handsome ; tarhi then ; tat-prekṣaṇam seeing Him ; paścāt from the west ; kariṣyāmi I will do ; na no ; saṁśayaḥ doubt.

Translation

Śrī Rādhā said: Draw a handsome picture of Him. Then I will look for Him in the west. Of this there is no doubt.

śrī-nārada uvāca atha sakhyau vyalikhatāṁ citraṁ nanda-śiśoḥ śubham nava-yauvana-mādhuryaṁ rādhāyai dadatus tvaram

Synonyms

śrī-nārada uvāca Śrī Nārada said ; atha then ; sakhyau the two friends ; vyalikhatām drew ; citram a picture ; nanda of Nanda ; śiśoḥ of the son ; śubham handsome ; nava-yauvana-mādhuryam sweet with new youth ; rādhāyai to Rādhā ; dadatuḥ gave ; tvaram at once.

Translation

The two friends drew a picture, handsome and filled with the sweetness of new youth, of Nanda's son, Kṛṣṇa, and gave it to Rādhā.

tad dṛṣṭvā harṣitā rādhā kṛṣṇa-darśana-lālasā citraṁ kare prāpaśyantī suṣvāpānanda-saṅkulā

Synonyms

tat that ; dṛṣṭvā seeing ; harṣitā happy ; rādhā Rādhā ; kṛṣṇa-darśana-lālasā yearning to see Kṛṣṇa ; citram picture ; kare in Her hand ; prapaśyantī gazing ; suṣvāpa fainted ; ānanda with bliss ; saṅkulā filled.

Translation

When Rādhā saw the picture She became very happy. Gazing at the picture in Her hand, yearning to see Kṛṣṇa, and now overcome with bliss, She fainted.

dadarśa kṛṣṇaṁ bhavane śayānā ghana-prabhaṁ pīta-paṭaṁ dadhānam bhāṇḍīra-deśe yamunāṁ sametya nṛtyantam ārād vṛṣabhānu-putrī

Synonyms

dadarśa saw ; kṛṣṇam Kṛṣṇa ; bhavane in Her home ; śayānā resting ; ghana-prabham splendid as a monsoon cloud ; pīta-paṭam wearing yellow garments ; dadhānam wearing ; bhāṇḍīra-deśe in Bhandiravana ; yamunām to the Yamunā ; sametya going ; nṛtyantam dancing ; ārāt near ; vṛṣabhānu-putrī Vṛṣabhānu's daughter.

Translation

As She slept in Her home, Vṛṣabhānu's daughter Rādhā dreamed of going to the Yamunā, where She gazed at Kṛṣṇa, dark as a monsoon cloud, dressed in yellow garments, and dancing in Bhāṇḍīravana forest.

tadaiva rādhā śayanāt samutthitā parasya kṛṣṇasya viyoga-vihvalā saṣcintayantī kamanīya-rūpiṇaṁ mene trilokīṁ tṛṇavad videha-rāṭ

Synonyms

Translation

O king of Videha, when Rādhā rose from sleep, She was filled with the anguish of separation from Kṛṣṇa. Always thinking of His handsome form, She thought the three worlds had become like a single blade of grass.

tarhy āvrajantaṁ sva-vanād vrajeśvaraṁ saṅkoca-vīthyāṁ vṛṣabhānu-paṭṭane gavākṣam etyāśu sakhī-pradarśitaṁ dṛṣṭvā tu murcchāṁ samavāpa sundarī

Synonyms

tarhi then ; āvrajantam coming ; sva-vanāt from His forest ; vrajeśvaram the king of Vraja ; saṅkoca-vīthyām on a narrow path ; vṛṣabhānu-paṭṭane in Vṛṣabhānu's palace ; gavākṣam to the window ; etya going ; āśu at once ; sakhī by Her friends ; pradarśitam shown ; dṛṣṭvā seeing ; tu indeed ; murcchām fainting ; samavāpa attained ; sundarī the beautiful girl.

Translation

Going to a window and, as Her two friends pointed to Him, gazing at Kṛṣṇa, the master of Vraja as He walked on the narrow path from His own forest to King Vṛṣabhānu's palace, beautiful Rādhā fainted.

kṛṣṇo 'pi dṛṣṭvā vṛṣabhānu-nandinīṁ surūpa-kauśalya-yutāṁ guṇāśrayām kurvan mano rantum atīva mādhavo līlā-tanuḥ sa prayayau sva-mandiram

Synonyms

Translation

Glancing at Vṛṣabhānu's beautiful daughter Rādhā, who sheltered a host of transcendental virtues, and deciding in His heart to enjoy with Her, playful Kṛṣṇa went on to His own palace.

evaṁ tataḥ kṛṣṇa-viyoga-vihvalāṁ prabhūta-kāma-jvara-khinna-mānasām samvīkṣya rādhāṁ vṛṣabhānu-nandinīṁ uvāca vācaṁ lalitā sakhī varā

Synonyms

evam thus ; tataḥ from that ; kṛṣṇa-viyoga-vihvalām anxious in separation from Kṛṣṇa ; prabhūta-kāma-jvara by the flames of desire ; khinna tormented ; mānasām heart ; samvīkṣya seeing ; rādhām Rādhā ; vṛṣabhānu-nandinīm Vṛṣabhānu's daughter ; uvāca said ; vācam words ; lalitā Lalitā ; sakhī friend ; varā best.

Translation

Seeing Her anguished by Kṛṣṇa's absence and Her heart tortured by flames of love for Him, beautiful Lalitā-sakhī spoke to Vṛṣabhānu's daughter Rādhā.

śrī-lalitovāca kathaṁ tvaṁ vihvalā rādhe mūrcchitāti-vyathāṁ gatā yadīcchasi hariṁ su-bhru tasmin snehaṁ dṛḍhaṁ kuru

Synonyms

śrī-lalitā uvāca Śrī Lalitā said ; katham why? ; tvam You ; vihvalā overcome ; rādhe O Rādhā ; mūrcchitāti-vyathām fasinting ; gatā attained ; yadi if ; icchasi You wish ; harim to Kṛṣṇa ; su-bhru O girl with the beautiful eyebrows ; tasmin in Him ; sneham love ; dṛḍham strong. kuru—do.

Translation

Śrī Lalitā said: O Rādhā, why are You unconscious? O beautiful-eyebowed one, if You wish to attain Kṛṣṇa, then give all Your love to Him.

Verse text

lokasyāpi sukhaṁ sarvaṁ adhikṛtyāsti sāmpratam duḥkhāgni-hṛt pradahati kumbhakārāgni-vac chubhe

Synonyms

lokasya of the world ; api even ; sukham the happiness ; sarvam all ; adhikṛtya attaining ; asti is ; sāmpratam now ; duḥkha of misery ; agni fire ; hṛt heart ; pradahati burns ; kumbhakārāgni-vat like a potter's fire ; śubhe O beautiful one.

Translation

O beautiful one, even now that You have found the person that brings all happiness to the world, Your heart still burns like the fire in a potter's kiln.

śrī-nārada uvāca lalitāyāś ca lalitaṁ vacaḥ śrutvā vrajeśvarī netre unmīlya lalitāṁ prāha gadgadayā girā

Synonyms

śrī-nāradaḥ uvāca Śrī Nārada said ; lalitāyāś of Lalitā ; ca and ; lalitam eloquent ; vacaḥ words ; śrutvā hearing ; vrajeśvarī the queen of Vraja ; netre eyes ; unmīlya opening ; lalitām to lalitā ; prāha said ; gadgadayā choked up ; girā with a voice.

Translation

Śrī Nārada said: Hearing Lalitā's graceful words, Vraja's goddess, Rādhā, opened Her eyes and spoke in a faltering voice.

śrī-rādhovāca vrajālaṅkāra-caraṇau na prāptau yadi me kila kadācid vigrahaṁ tarhi na hi svaṁ dhārayāmy aham

Synonyms

śrī-rādhā uvāca Śrī Rādhā said ; vraja of Vraja ; alaṅkāra the decoration ; caraṇau na—whose feet ; prāptau attained ; yadi if ; me by Me ; kila indeed ; kadācit at some time ; vigraham the form ; tarhi then ; na not ; hi indeed ; svam own ; dhārayāmi I maintain ; aham I.

Translation

Śrī Rādhā said: If I cannot attain His feet, which now decorate this land of Vraja, I will not keep My body alive.

śrī-nārada uvāca iti śrutvā vacas tasyā lalitā bhaya-vihvalā śrī-kṛṣṇa-pārśvaṁ prayayau kṛṣṇā-tīre manohare

Synonyms

śrī-nāradaḥ uvāca Śrī Nārada said ; iti thus ; śrutvā hearing ; vacaḥ the words ; tasyā of Her ; lalitā Lalitā ; bhaya with fear ; vihvalā overcome ; śrī-kṛṣṇa-pārśvam to Lord Kṛṣṇa's side ; prayayau went ; kṛṣṇā-tīre on the Yamunā's shore ; manohare beautiful.

Translation

Śrī Nārada said: Terrified by hearing these words, Lalitā went to Kṛṣṇa by the Yamunā's beautiful shore.

Verse text

mādhavī-jāla-samyukte madhura-dhvani-saṅkule kadamba-mūle rahasi prāha caikākinaṁ harim

Synonyms

mādhavī of madhavi vines ; jāla with a network ; samyukte endowed ; madhura-dhvani-saṅkule filled with sweet sounds ; kadamba-mūle at the root of a kadamba tree ; rahasi in a secluded place ; prāha said ; ca and ; ekākinam all alone ; harim to Kṛṣṇa.

Translation

Finding Kṛṣṇa all alone under a kadamba tree in a solitary place laced with a network of flowering mādhavī vines and filled with sweet sounds, Lalitā spoke.

śrī-lalitovāca yasmin dine ca te rūpaṁ rādhayā dṛṣṭam adbhutam tad-dināt stambhatāṁ prāptā putrikeva na vākti kim

Synonyms

śrī-lalitā uvāca Śrī Lalitā said ; yasmin in which ; dine day ; ca and ; te of You ; rūpam the form ; rādhayā by Rādhā ; dṛṣṭam seen ; adbhutam wonderful ; tad-dināt from that day ; stambhatām the state of being stunned ; prāptā attained ; putrikā a puppet ; iva like ; na not ; vākti speaks ; kim why?

Translation

Śrī Lalitā said: Since the day She first saw Your wonderful form, Rādhā has been stunned. She is like a motionless puppet. She does not even speak.

alaṅkāras tv arcir iva vastraṁ bharja-rajo yathā sugandhiḥ kaṭuvad yasya mandiraṁ nirjanaṁ vanam

Translation

puṣpaṁ bāṇaṁ candra-bimbaṁ viṣa-kandam avehi bhoḥ tasyai sandarśanaṁ dehi rādhayai duḥkha-nāśanam alaṅkāraḥ—an ornament; tv—indeed; arciḥ—the sun; iva—like; vastram—garments; bharja-rajaḥ—sparks; yathā—as; sugandhiḥ—fragrance; kaṭuvat—as if bitter; yasya—of whom; mandiram—the placae; nirjanam—solitary; vanam—wilderness; puṣpam—flower; bāṇam—arrow; candra-bimbam—the circle of the moon; viṣa-kandam—a pot of poison; avehi—know; bhoḥ—O; tasyai—to Her; sandarśanam—sight; dehi—please give; rādhayai—to Rādhā; duḥkha—of sufferings; nāśanam—destruction. Please know that Her ornaments have become for Her like dazzling suns, Her clothing like a shower of sparks, Her perfumes bitter, Her palace a solitary wilderness, Her flowers sharp arrows, and the moon a pot of poison. O, please give to Rādhā the sight of You, a sight that will destroy Her sufferings.

Translation

puṣpaṁ bāṇaṁ candra-bimbaṁ viṣa-kandam avehi bhoḥ tasyai sandarśanaṁ dehi rādhayai duḥkha-nāśanam alaṅkāraḥ—an ornament; tv—indeed; arciḥ—the sun; iva—like; vastram—garments; bharja-rajaḥ—sparks; yathā—as; sugandhiḥ—fragrance; kaṭuvat—as if bitter; yasya—of whom; mandiram—the placae; nirjanam—solitary; vanam—wilderness; puṣpam—flower; bāṇam—arrow; candra-bimbam—the circle of the moon; viṣa-kandam—a pot of poison; avehi—know; bhoḥ—O; tasyai—to Her; sandarśanam—sight; dehi—please give; rādhayai—to Rādhā; duḥkha—of sufferings; nāśanam—destruction. te sākṣiṇaḥ kiṁ viditaṁ na bhū-tale sṛjasy alaṁ pāsi harasy atho jagat yadā samāno 'si janeṣu sarvatas tathāpi bhaktān bhajase pareśvara

te of You ; sākṣiṇaḥ witness ; kim whether? ; viditam known ; na not ; bhū-tale on the surface of the earth ; sṛjasi You create ; alam greatly ; pāsi You maintain ; harasi You remove ; athaḥ then ; jagat the universe ; yadā when ; samānaḥ equal ; asi You are ; janeṣu to the people ; sarvataḥ in all respects ; tathāpi still ; bhaktān the devotees ; bhajase You worship ; pareśvara O Supreme Lord.

Translation

You see everything. In this world what do You not know? You create, protect, and destroy the universe. O Supreme Lord. although You are equal to all, You worship Your devotees.

śrī-nārada uvāca iti śrutvā hariḥ sākṣāl lalitaṁ lalitā-vacaḥ uvāca bhagavān devo megha-gambhīrayā girā

Synonyms

śrī-nāradaḥ uvāca Śrī Nārada said ; iti thus ; śrutvā hearing ; hariḥ Kṛṣṇa ; sākṣāl directly ; lalitam garceful ; lalitā of Lalitā ; vacaḥ teh words ; uvāca said ; bhagavān the Lord ; devaḥ the Lord ; megha of clouds ; gambhīrayā deep ; girā with words.

Translation

Śrī Nārada said: Hearing Lalitā's graceful words, Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, spoke with words deep as thunder.

śrī-bhagavān uvāca sarvaṁ hi bhāvaṁ manasaḥ parasparaṁ na hy ekato bhāmini jāyate tataḥ premaiva kartavyam ato mayi svataḥ premṇā samānaṁ bhuvi nāsti kiṣcit

Synonyms

śrī-bhagavān uvāca the Supreme Personality of Godhead said ; sarvam all ; hi indeed ; bhāvam love ; manasaḥ of theheart ; parasparam mutual ; na not ; hi indeed ; ekataḥ from one ; bhāmini O noble lady ; jāyate is born ; tataḥ therefore ; prema love ; eva indeed ; kartavyam should be done ; ataḥ then ; mayi in Me ; svataḥ personally ; premṇā with love ; samānam equality ; bhuvi in the world ; na not ; asti is ; kiṣcit at all.

Translation

The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: We both feel this love in Our hearts. O noble girl, it is not that only one of Us feels it. She should love Me. In this world there is nothing equal to the love She bears for Me.

yathā hi bhāṇḍīravane manoratho babhūva tasyā hi tathā bhaviṣyati ahaitukaṁ prema ca sadbhir āśritaṁ tac cāpi santaḥ kila nirguṇaṁ viduḥ

Synonyms

yathā as ; hi indeed ; bhāṇḍīravane in Bhandiravana ; manorathaḥ the desire ; babhūva was ; tasya of Her ; hi indeed ; tathā so ; bhaviṣyati will be ; ahaitukam causeless ; prema love ; ca and ; sadbhiḥ by the saintly devotees ; āśritam sheltered ; tac that ; ca and ; api also ; santaḥ the devotees ; kila indeed ; nirguṇam beyond the modes of nature ; viduḥ know.

Translation

The desire She felt in Bhāṇḍīravana forest will be fulfilled. Saintly devotees take shelter of pure unalloyed love for Me. Saintly devotees know that love for Me is beyond the touch of the matter.

ye rādhikāyāṁ mayi keśave manāg bhedaṁ na paśyanti hi dugdha-śauklavat ta eva me brahma-padaṁ prayānti tad ahaituka-sphurjita-bhakti-lakṣaṇāḥ

Translation

Pure devotees who see no difference between Śrī Rādhā and Myself, Lord Kṛṣṇa, attain My spiritual abode, which is pure as the whitest milk.

ye rādhikāyāṁ mayi keśave harau kurvanti bhedaṁ ku-dhiyo janā bhuvi te kāla-sūtraṁ prapatanti duḥkhitā rambhoru yāvat kila candra-bhāskarau

Translation

Fools who see a difference between Śrī Rādhā and Myself, Lord Kṛṣṇa, fall onto the string of time. O girl with thighs like banana trees, they are tortured for as long the sun and moon exist.

śrī-nārada uvāca itthaṁ śrutvā vacaḥ kṛtsnaṁ natvā taṁ lalitā sakhī rādhāṁ sametya rahasi prāha prahasitānanā

śrī-nāradaḥ uvāca Śrī Nārada said ; ittham thus ; śrutvā hearing ; vacaḥ words ; kṛtsnam all ; natvā bowing down ; tam to Him ; lalitā Lalitā ; sakhī friend ; rādhām to Rādhā ; sametya going ; rahasi in a secluded place ; prāha said ; prahasita smiling ; ānanā face.

Translation

Śrī Nārada said: After hearing all these words, and after bowing before the Lord, Lalitā-sakhī, her face full of smiles, approached Rādhā in a solitary place and spoke to Her.

śrī-lalitovāca tathā tvaṁ madhusūdanaḥ yuvayor bheda-rahitaṁ tejas tv aikaṁ dvidhā janaiḥ śrī-lalitā uvāca—Śrī Lalitā said; tvam—You; icchasi—desire; yathā—ass; kṛṣṇam—Kṛṣṇa; tathā—so; tvam—You; madhusūdanaḥ—Kṛṣṇa; yuvayoḥ—of You both; bheda-rahitam—without difference; tejaḥ—power; tv—indeed; aikam—one; dvidhā—in two; janaiḥ—by the people. Śrī Lalitā said: As You desire Kṛṣṇa, so Kṛṣṇa desires You. There is no difference between You. You are one. Only fools think You are two.

tathāpi devi kṛṣṇāya karma niṣkāraṇaṁ kuru yena te vāṣchitaṁ bhūyād bhaktyā paramayā sati

Synonyms

tathāpi still ; devi O goddess ; kṛṣṇāya for Kṛṣṇa ; karma work ; niṣkāraṇam causeless ; kuru do ; yena by which ; te of You ; vāṣchitam desired ; bhūyāt may be ; bhaktyā with devotion ; paramayā great ; sati O saintly one.

Translation

O goddess, You should serve Kṛṣṇa without any other desire. O saintly one, by serving Him with great devotion, Your desire will be fulfilled.

śrī-nārada uvāca iti śrutvā sakhī-vākyaṁ rādhā rāseśvarī nṛpa candrānanāṁ prāha sakhīṁ sarva-dharma-vidāṁ varām

Synonyms

śrī-nāradaḥ uvāca Śrī Nārada said: ; iti thus ; śrutvā hearing ; sakhī-vākyam the words of Her friend ; rādhā Rādhā ; rāseśvarī the goddess of the rāsa dance ; nṛpa O king ; candrānanām to Candrānanā ; prāha said ; sakhīm friend ; sarva-dharma-vidām of they who know all the principles of religion ; varām the best.

Translation

Śrī Nārada said: O king, after hearing Her friend's words, Śrī Rādhā, the goddess of the rāsa dance, spoke to Her friend Candrānanā, the best of the knowers of religion.

śrī-rādhovāca śrī-kṛṣṇasya prasannārthaṁ paraṁ saubhāgya-vardhanam mahā-puṇyaṁ vāṣchita-daṁ pūjanaṁ vada kasyacit

Synonyms

śrī-rādhā uvāca Śrī Rādhā said ; śrī-kṛṣṇasya to Śrī Kṛṣṇa ; artham for the purpose ; param great ; saubhāgya good fortune ; vardhanam increase ; mahā-puṇyam great piety ; vāṣchita desire ; dam fulfilling ; pūjanam worship ; vada please tell ; kasyacit of someone.

Translation

Śrī Rādhā said: Please tell Me what kind of worship I should perform to please Śrī Kṛṣṇa, worship that will bring auspiciousness, piety, and the fulfillment of My desire.

tvayā bhadre dharma-śāstraṁ gargācārya-mukhāc chrutam tasmād vrataṁ pūjanaṁ vā brūhi mahyaṁ mahā-mate

Synonyms

tvayā by you ; bhadre O beautiful one ; dharma-śāstram the scriptures of religion ; gargācārya-mukhāt from the mouth of Garga Muni ; śrutam heard ; tasmāt from that ; vratam vow ; pūjanam worship ; or ; brūhi tell ; mahyam to Me ; mahā-mate O noble-hearted one.

Translation

O beautiful one, You heard the religious scriptures from Garga Muni's own mouth. O noble-hearted one, please tell Me what vow or what worship I should perform.
