śrī-mandhātovāca nāmnām sahasram krsnayāḥ sarva-siddhi-karam param vada mām muni-cārdula tvam sarvajno nirāmayaḥ

Translation

śrī-mandhātā uvāca - Srī Mandhātā said; nāmnām - of names; sahasram - thousand; krsnayāḥ - of the Yamunā; sarva-siddhi-karam - granting all perfection; param - great; vada - please tell; mām - to me; muni-cārdula - O tiger among the sages; tvam - you; sarvaj 24aḥ - all-knowing; nirāmayaḥ - free from illusion. Srī Mandhātā said: O tiger among the sages, you know everything. You are never bewildered. Please tell me the thousand names of Srī Yamunā, names that bring all perfection.

śrī-saubharir uvāca nāmnām sahasram kālindyā mandhātās te vadāmy aham sarva-siddhi-karam divyam śrī-krsna-vaca-kārakam

Translation

śrī-saubharir uvāca - Srī Saubhari said; nāmnām - of names; sahasram - thousand; kālindyā - of Sri Yamunā; mandhātāḥ - O Mandhātā; te - to you; vadāmy - speak; aham - I; sarva-siddhi-karam - granting all perfection; divyam - transcendental; cri-krsna-vaca-kārakam - making Lord Krsna into one's submissive servant. Sri Saubhari said: O King Mandhātā, now I will tell you the thousand transcendental names of Sri Yamunā, names that bring all perfection, names that make Lord Krsna into one's submissive servant.

om asya cri-kālindi-sahasra-nāma-stotra-mantrasya saubhari- rsiḥ cri-yamunā devatāḥ anusthup-chandaḥ māyā-bijam iti kilakam ramā-bijam iti caktiḥ cri-kalinda-nandini-prasāda-siddhy-arthe jape viniyogaḥ.

Translation

om - Om; asya - of this; cri-kālindi-sahasra-nāma-stotra-mantrasya - Sri Yamunā-sahastra-nāma mantra; saubhari-rsiḥ - the sage is Saubhari; cri-yamunā - Sri Yamunā; devatāḥ - is the deity; anusthup-chandaḥ - anustup is the meter; māyā-bijam - the maya-bija; iti - thus; kilakam - kilaka; ramā-bijam - rama-bija; iti - thus; sakhiḥ - sakti; cri-kalinda-nandini-prasāda-siddhy-arthe - to attain the mercy of Sri Yamunā; viniyogaḥ - engaged. Om. Here follows the Sri Yamunā-sahasra-nāma-mantra. The seer is Sri Saubhari Muni. The deity is Sri Yamunā. The meter is anustup. The kilaka is māyā-bija. The cakti is ramā-bija. The purpose is to attain Sri Yamunā's mercy.

nāmnām - of names; sahasram - thousand; kālindyāḥ - of the Yamunā; kirtidam - giving fame; kāmadam - fulfilling desires; param - great; mahā-pāpa - great sins; haram - removing; punyam - sacred; āyur-vardhanam - increasing life; uttamam - transcendental. These thousand sacred names of Sri Yamunā bring fame and fulfill all desires. They remove the greatest sins. They increase the span of life.

A person who once recites these names need not fear thieves at night. A person who twice recites these names need not fear highwaymen.

unmādanam - madness; tāpanam - suffering; ca - and; nidhi-darcanam - seeing wealth; evā - indeed; ca - and; yad yat - whatever; vā 24chati - desires; cittena - in his heart; tat tat - thAT; prāpnoti - attains; mānavaḥ - a person. . . . madness, and suffering. He attains great wealth. He attains whatever he desires in his heart.

brāhmanaḥ - a brāhmana; brahma-varcasvi - brahminical power; rājanyaḥ - kings; jagati-patiḥ - the master of the world; vaicyaḥ - a vaisya; nidhi-patiḥ - the master of great welath; bhuyāt - may be; cudraḥ - a sudra; crutvā - hearing; tu - indeed; nirmalaḥ - pure. By hearing these thousand names a brāhmana attains great brahminical power, a ksatriya becomes king of the world, a vaicya becomes the master of great wealth, and a cudra becomes pure in heart.

puja-kāle - at the time of worship; tu - indeed; yaḥ - one who; nityam - regularly; pathate - recites; bhakti-bhāvataḥ - with devotion; lipyate - is touched; nā - not; sa - he; pāpena - by sin; padma-patram - a lotus leaf; iva - like; ambhasā - by water. A person who when he worships the Lord recites these thousand names of Sri Yamunā is never touched by sin as a lotus leaf is never touched by water.

niskāranam - without motive; pathet - recites; yaḥ - one who; tu - indeed; yamunā-bhakti-samyutaḥ - with devotion fro Sri Yamunā; traivargyam - the three goals of life; etya - attaining; sukrti - pious; jivan-muktaḥ - liberated in this life; bhavet - becomes; iha - in this world. A person who, devoted to Sri Yamunā and free of material motives, recites these prayers, attains the three goals of life, becomes saintly, and becomes liberated even in this world.

nikunja-lilā-lalitam manoharam kalindajā-kula-latā-kadambakam vrndāvanonmatta-milinda-cabditam vrajet sa golokam idam pathec ca yaḥ

Translation

nikunja - in the forest groves; lilā - pastimes; lalitam - charming; manoharam - beautiful; kalindajā-kula - by the Yamunā's shore; latā-kadambakam - vines; vrndāvana - og Vrndāvana; unmatta - intoxicated; milinda - of bumblebees; cabditam - filled with the sounds; vrajet - goes; sa - he; golokam - to Goloka; idam - this; pathet - reads; ca - and; yaḥ - one who. A person who recites these hundred names goes to Goloka, the beautiful realm filled with flowering vines by the Yamunā's shore, the sound of intoxicated bees, and the charming pastimes of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. .pa
